Hover Zoom+ is a Chrome-only extension that enlarges any image or video you hover over on a live webpage, without opening it in a new tab or downloading it first.
It pulls the full-resolution source straight off the page's underlying markup, so you can see a thumbnail, product photo, or video preview at real size on sites like Amazon or Pinterest: something plain browser zoom or a quick devtools poke won't give you as cleanly.

This is a from-scratch open-source rebuild of the original Hover Zoom, which Google pulled from the Chrome Web Store in 2019 after it was caught secretly harvesting users' full browsing history (the "DataSpii" scandal); this fork claims to collect nothing, but it still needs "read and change all your data on all websites" permission, so weigh that against the convenience.
