Hoefler&Co., founded by Jonathan Hoefler, is behind some of the most recognizable American typefaces of the last three decades - Gotham, Knockout, Mercury, Sentinel, Archer - and was acquired by Monotype in 2021.
Gotham alone carries enough cultural weight (the 2008 Obama campaign, among other uses) that picking it says something specific about a brand's register.
Suited to high-visibility branding or editorial work where an established, extensively battle-tested typeface matters more than novelty.
Fully paid - individual styles or bundles are priced separately, and Gotham's full bundle runs into real money - and distribution now runs through Monotype's licensing infrastructure since the 2021 acquisition. There's no free tier.
Long-lived typefaces marked by high performance and high style.
