Claude Design is Anthropic's AI design feature (in research preview since April 2026) for generating prototypes, slides, and mockups by chatting with Claude, with a direct handoff to Claude Code for building the real thing.
The pitch is a single subscription covering the whole idea-to-build pipeline: sketch a visual concept in Claude Design, then hand it straight to Claude Code on the same plan to turn it into working code, rather than switching tools and re-explaining context partway through.
Designers and product people comfortable prototyping through conversation rather than a visual canvas, especially teams already using Claude Code for development; still an early-stage feature, so expect rough edges.
Not separately priced: included in Claude Pro ($17-20/month) and higher tiers alongside Claude Code and Claude's other features. Still labeled a research preview as of mid-2026, so functionality is actively changing.
