How detailed do your wireframes get before high-fidelity?

Low-fi for flows, then straight to high-fi. Mid-fi wireframes are where I waste the most time.
Depends on the client — some need mid-fi to sign off before I touch visual design at all.
I keep going back and forth — barely-there boxes vs. near-final layout with placeholder copy. What's your process?
