Target participants
Elderly individuals (65+) living in urban and semi-urban areas of India, their primary caregivers or family members, and local beauticians or service providers.
The problem
Elderly individuals in India often struggle to access at-home beautician services. This means they miss out on personal grooming, which impacts their self-esteem and social engagement. Many find it difficult to travel to salons due to mobility issues, health concerns, or simply lack of convenient transport. While some at-home services exist, they rarely cater specifically to the needs or preferences of older adults, or elderly people aren't aware of them. Trust and safety are also major concerns when inviting unknown service providers into their homes.
Research question
What are the primary barriers preventing elderly individuals in India from successfully finding and utilizing at-home beautician services, and what specific needs and concerns do they have regarding such services?
