Founding UI/UX Designer

About the Role :

We’re looking for a Founding UI/UX Designer to define how people feel when they cook with Tara.

Tara is an AI cooking companion that lives in the kitchen. It watches food being cooked and guides users in real time. This is not a typical app design role. You’ll be designing calm, intuitive, hands-free experiences for moments when users are busy, distracted, or stressed.

You’ll work directly with the founders and play a critical role in shaping product adoption, trust and premium perception.

What You’ll Do:

Own the end-to-end user experience for Tara across:

• Mobile app
• Device interactions
• Setup & installation flow

Design real-time cooking interactions:

• Timely prompts
• Safety alerts
• Conversational guidance

Create high-fidelity prototypes for:

• User testing
• Live demos
• Public showcases

Define Tara’s visual language:

• Typography
• Colors
• Motion
• Tone

Work closely with frontend, AI and hardware teams to ship fast.

Continuously simplify complex AI behavior into intuitive UX.

What We’re Looking For:

• 2+ years of experience in UI/UX or product design
• Strong portfolio of consumer-facing products
• Excellent visual taste - clean, minimal, premium
• Ability to design for real-world constraints (hands-busy, glanceable, time-sensitive)
• Comfortable working in early-stage, fast-moving environments
• Bias for shipping over perfection

Bonus:

• Experience with consumer products
• Experience designing voice-first or AI-assisted interfaces
• Familiarity with Figma + prototyping tools
